These Next couple of Pics are actually from New Years eve on top of a Hill. Where my friends and I watched while the sky tower lit up with fireworks, it was so windy I had to hold the Tripod steady and use my friends as a human wind sheild. They helped heaps I actually didn't think that the pics would come out as well as they did!!

Good night shots for such a distance. Were you using regular, 200-mm, or a longerlens?
Still think it's strange to have them shot off the tower, like they don't go high enough already or the other mountains block the view to alot of folks, maybe...?
Don't all the ashes n rocket-remains rain down all over the buildings?
Here we do them at the beach parking lot (on the 4th of July), and they fit several hundred thousand people on the bluffs n beach, n the beaches across the harbor to watch. Now though, it's winter here, n the warm weather folks are all in Florida...

Thanks, I was using my 100-300 Telephoto, at 300mm. I wouldn't mind a longer lens but its all money, and they are very expensive over 300mm.
Ha ha, well the Sky tower is actually in the Central Buisness District, so where all the sky rises and concrete buildings are. But I suppose they would get some ash and stuff on them. I suppose they want all of Auckland to see the fireworks, and the majority of Auckland can see the tower.
I must admit I'm really enjoying the warmer weather here :)
